Our services extend beyond the prison walls, changing the lives of those at risk of offending and those whose journey back to a life free from crime is continuing ‘through the gate’.
From Community Payback to Approved Premises, from partnerships with visionary charities to projects with partner organisations, Novus delivers education and training to improve an individual’s confidence and their employability.
We give purpose and hope to those whose lives have been blighted by criminal behaviour.
We believe that through education and support people can achieve their full potential and contribute positively to their families, their communities, society and the UK economy.
We work in partnership with Approved Premises across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Staffordshire and the West Midlands. Approved Premises form part of the National Probation Service. They give convicted prisoners controlled accommodation in the community upon release under licence, or sometimes for those on bail.
Novus sessions are attended by all offenders residing in Approved Premises with educational needs, in keeping with their licence conditions. Our employees give offenders the knowledge and confidence to continue their education or find a job, which in turn reduces the risk of re-offending.
Our work in the community is of growing importance. We work in partnership with Community Payback in Greater Manchester and Merseyside. Community Rehabilitation Companies deliver more than 600,000 hours of Community Payback per year, with unpaid work carried out in the local community.
Sarah's life-changing learning journey
Sarah had hit rock bottom when she turned to charity Save The Family for help. Already a sufferer of anxiety and depression, her personal situation deteriorated when she experienced serious family problems.
The charity, a community partner of Novus, provides residential accommodation and support for families that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, and who have multiple and complex needs.
Novus delivers high quality education, training and employability services to the families at Save The Family’s base in Chester. Our education team gives residents not only the skills and knowledge to gain qualifications and thrive in employment, but also the belief and feeling of self-worth that was very often absent before their studies started.
Sarah, who had limited qualifications and was hampered by doubt and a lack of confidence, enrolled on Pre-Tenancy, SFLE Retail Skills, Functional Skills English and Functional Skills Maths with Novus.
We extend our market-leading education provision beyond the prison walls to help those going 'through the gate' to lead a crime-free life, and our community partners play a significant part in this process.
By joining forces we can extend our services to even more people who are at risk of reoffending, giving them a feeling of self-purpose and offering them the opportunity to make a positive contribution to society.
Our work with the likes of the National Probation Service in Approved Premises, the Ministry of Justice and the Skills Funding Agency hands learners the best chance to find work and embark on a law-abiding future.
We are always open to new and innovative ways to extend our reach and transform the lives of learners 'through the gate', so if you are interested in partnering with us please get in touch.Partner with us
